Without battery backup lights, those inside would not be able to easily and quickly find their way to the nearest exit. Battery backup lights turn on instantly, as soon as electrical power to the facility is lost. External

For most commercial emergency lighting applications, a thermoplastic housing is suitable and will last for years to come. Thermoplastic emergency lights are designed for indoor use and are featured in apartments, schools, malls, and other types of commercial facilities throughout the country.

Internal

Utilizes 120/277v AC electricity to operate and charge the battery. Comes standard with solid state charging circuitry, low voltage disconnect, AC lockout, and brownout protection. Available in custom voltages upon request.

Battery

Battery backup lights come standard with a 6-volt, 4.5-amp sealed lead acid emergency light battery. Higher capacity emergency light batteries are available; a 6-volt 7-amp battery comes with the remote capable model. Remote capable battery backup lights are used to provide emergency illumination and can also power up to (2) additional, remotely located battery backup lamp heads.

Battery backup light models feature a 90 minute emergency run time after AC power to the building is lost. The recharge time for the battery is 24 hours and the max working temperature for the battery is 122º F. The sealed lead acid battery has an average lifespan of 3 to 5 years. Make sure to test your emergency light batteries on a monthly and yearly basis to comply with OSHA testing requirements.

Self-testing - The unit can come with self-diagnostic testing that eliminates monthly and yearly testing of the battery backup system and alerts the user to any problems regarding operational functionality of the unit.

Nickel Cadmium Battery - The unit can come with a nickel cadmium battery. A step above the standard sealed lead acid batter, Ni-Cad batteries have a 5-7 year lifespan, are easier to replace, and decrease shipping weight. Nickel cadmium emergency light batteries are only available on the steel and wet location battery backup emergency light models.

Durability

The thermoplastic battery backup light is designed for normal, indoor emergency lighting applications. It should not be used for areas that feature abuse or airborne materials such as water or dust.

Both steel battery backup emergency lights and wet location battery backup emergency lights are very durable. The wet location model is waterproof and manufactured from gray fiberglass polycarbonate that is weatherproof and can be used in industrial applications.

Appeal

The thermoplastic battery backup light comes standard in white and is also available in a black finish. The steel battery backup light features a baked enamel white powder coat that will not chip or corrode. This wet location outdoor battery backup light with self testing features a gray finish and is appealing because of its unique durability features that are included standard.
