The Self Testing Emergency Light is designed to eliminate the physical and time consuming requirement for emergency light testing. OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requires that emergency lights (lamps and batteries) are tested for 90-seconds every month and for 90-minutes once per year. For facilities that feature more than 10 emergency lights or lights that are located in hard to reach locations, this becomes a time-consuming, taxing task.
Self-testing emergency lights eliminate this requirement by automatically testing the unit on a regular basis. Conventional emergency lights feature a push button for battery testing while self-testing emergency lights feature electronics on the inside of the unit that complete the 90-second and 90-minute test. The results of the test are displayed by a series of LED lights on the bottom of the unit. Literature provided with self-testing emergency lights allows the user to decipher the functional status of the emergency light easily.

The steel housing is suitable for most commercial applications where a more durable housing is desired. The 20-gauge housing is powder coated in white and is corrosion resistant. Steel emergency lights can stand up to moderate abuse and is popular for warehouses and processing/manufacturing facilities.
The NEMA 4X waterproof housing is made from high-grade gray polycarbonate. This housing will stand up to adverse weather conditions and is ideal for wash down areas and industrial applications.
Utilizes 120/277v AC electricity to operate and charge the battery. Comes standard with solid state charging circuitry, low voltage disconnect, AC lockout, and brownout protection. Available in custom voltages upon request.
When ordering this self testing emergency light model as it is configured on this page you will receive a thermoplastic model with (2) wedge based 5.4-watt adjustable lamp heads.
9-watt lamp heads, which double the output of the thermoplastic emergency light, come standard on the steel auto-test emergency light and wet location auto-test emergency light.
Higher and more powerful lamp heads are also available; please call us to discuss other options and a price quote. Higher wattage lamp heads are popular for industrial emergency light applications. Photometric data is available for all lamp head choices.
This self-diagnostic testing emergency light comes with (2) lamp heads but can also be ordered with one; or no lamps at all. When ordered with no lamps the unit is essentially a power supply for remotely located lamp fixtures. Other lamp wattage available: 12, 18, 25, 30, 35, 55, and even 70-watts.
Self testing emergency lights come standard with a 6-volt, 4.5-amp sealed lead acid emergency light battery. Higher capacity emergency light batteries are available, a 6-volt 7-amp emergency light battery comes with the steel emergency light and wet location emergency light option.

Emergency Lights with Self Testing feature a 90 minute emergency run time after AC power to the building is lost. The recharge time for the battery is 24 hours and the max working temperature for the battery is 122º F. The sealed lead acid battery has an average lifespan of 3 to 5 years. Make sure to test your emergency light batteries on a monthly and yearly basis to comply with OSHA testing requirements.

Time-Delay - This option is ideal for installations that are utilizing fluorescent and HID lamps for general lighting purposes. The time delay feature keeps the emergency lights ililluminated for a preset period (usually 15 minutes) after power is restored since fluorescent and HID lighting can take 10-15 minutes to reach full brightness, even after a short power failure.
Nickel Cadmium Battery - The unit can come with a nickel cadmium battery. A step above the standard sealed lead acid batter, Ni-Cad batteries have a 5-7 year lifespan, are easier to replace, and decrease shipping weight. Nickel cadmium emergency light batteries are only available on the steel and wet location self-testing emergency light model.
Voltmeter - This option gives a visual display of the voltage condition/level of the battery. The voltmeter is only available on the steel and wet location self-testing emergency light model.
Ammeter - This option gives a visual display of the current that is being consumed by the emergency light at all time. The ammeter is only available on the steel and wet location self-testing emergency light model.
The thermoplastic self testing emergency light is designed for normal, indoor emergency lighting applications. It should not be used for areas that feature abuse or airborne materials such as water or dust.
Both the steel auto-test emergency light and wet location auto-test emergency light are very durable. The wet location model is waterproof and manufactured from gray fiberglass polycarbonate that is weatherproof and can be used in industrial applications.
The thermoplastic emergency light with self testing comes standard in white and is also available in a black finish. The steel emergency light with self testing features a baked enamel white powder coat that will not chip or corrode. This wet location oudoor emergency light with self testing features a gray finish and is appealing because of its unique feature that is included standard.
