Steel Emergency Light

Emergency lights are important and required safety lighting fixtures. Mandated by local, state, and federal building codes, emergency lights provide life saving exit pathway illumination so that building occupants can easily and effectively exit the facility during an emergency. Emergency lights constantly charge their battery backup system's, preparing for emergency mode operation.

The Steel Emergency Light is the most popular heavy duty emergency light for indoor use that we offer. The 20-gauge steel housing is durable and powder coated in a baked white enamel. The Steel Emergency Light's housing surface mounts to most normally inflammable surfaces. The 9-watt halogen lamp heads are top-mounted and easily adjust to cover a large area.

A powerful six-volt emergency light battery backup system powers the lamp heads for 90 minutes after AC power is lost. A simple push button, mounted on the side of the unit, allows the user to easily test the functionality of the emergency light battery. The Steel Emergency Light is UL Listed and comes with a five-year warranty.

Application

The Steel Emergency Light is idea for schools, hospitals, supermarkets, and all kinds of similar commercial applications. The sturdy 20-gauge housing of the steel emergency light protects the fixture's electronics and battery backup system from moderate abuse. The housing is powder coated white and blends well with most commercial interiors.

External

The 20-gauge housing of the Steel Emergency Light is sturdy and durable, featuring a chip-proof white baked enamel powder coat. Black is also available.

The steel housing features knockouts for mounting onto 4-inch standard junction boxes. The Steel Emergency Light also has side and top conduit knockouts.

Internal

Utilizes 120/277v AC electricity to operate and charge the battery. Comes standard with solid state charging circuitry, low voltage disconnect, AC lockout, and brownout protection.

Lamp Specifications

The Steel Emergency Light comes with 9.0-watt emergency lamp heads. Halogen lamps produce powerful illumination. Other lamp wattage available, please call for more details.

Battery

The Steel Emergency Light comes with a 6-volt, 18-watt sealed lead calcium capacity battery. Higher capacity batteries are available; please call for more details.

Self-testing - The unit can come with self-diagnostic testing that eliminates monthly and yearly testing of the battery backup system and alerts the user to any problems regarding operational functionality of the unit.

Self-testing with Audible Alarm - The unit can come with self-diagnostic testing that also features an audible alarm.

Nickel Cadmium Battery - The unit can come with a nickel cadmium battery. A step above the standard sealed lead acid batter, Ni-Cad batteries have a 5-7 year lifespan, are easier to replace, and decrease shipping weight.

Time-Delay - This option is ideal for installations that are utilizing fluorescent and HID lamps for general lighting purposes. The time delay feature keeps the emergency lights ililluminated for a preset period (usually 15 minutes) after power is restored since fluorescent and HID lighting can take 10-15 minutes to reach full brightness, even after a short power failure.

Custom Color - The unit comes standard in white but can be custom colored in a variety of standard finishes or can be customized to almost any specification.

Cord Set - If you need to plug your emergency light into the wall purchase the cord set option that allows you to connect your emergency light to any standard 120v AC outlet.

Voltmeter - This option gives a visual display of the voltage condition/level of the battery.

Ammeter - This option gives a visual display of the current that is being consumed by the emergency light at all time.

Installation

A universal mounting pattern is found stamped into the back of the unit and allows for direct mounting onto standard conduit junction boxes and normally inflammable surfaces. There are key hole slots on either side of the unit for additional mounting possibilities. Conduit knockouts are supplied on the back and sides of the unit, enabling the SEL to receive conduit in a number of different ways.
