Q&A with LEDtronics Marketing Manager Jordon Papanier

Emergency Lights Co. recently spoke with Jordon Papanier, Marketing Manager at LEDtronics, to discuss the evolution of LED lighting, its role in emergency systems, and what’s next in LED innovation.

1. How did LEDtronics first get involved with LED technology?

Our president, Mr. Pervaiz Lodhie, began making LED mini lamps in the 1970s for push-button switches. From there, the product line expanded rapidly.

2. How long has LEDtronics been active in the LED lighting industry?

LEDtronics has been designing and manufacturing LED lighting products since 1983. We’re headquartered in Torrance, California.

3. Are LED products ready for general lighting applications?

Absolutely. LED products have been ready for general lighting for several years. Popular options today include A19 bulbs, PAR and R-style spotlights, MR16 lamps, T8 tubes, panel lights, floodlights, post-top bulbs, and LED streetlight fixtures.

4. How are LEDs energy-efficient and cost-effective?

LEDs save 40% to 80% in energy costs over traditional lighting. For industrial clients, ROI is typically under 18 months. While LEDs may still have a higher upfront cost for homeowners, the long-term energy savings make them a smart investment.

5. What is the typical lifespan of a properly designed LED light?

White LEDs are rated for 50,000 hours with around 30% light loss over time. That’s over 5 years of continuous use (24/7), assuming proper product design—something LEDtronics emphasizes.

6. Can LEDs be used in emergency lighting systems?

Yes, LEDs are ideal for emergency lighting. They pair well with solar power systems and consume far less energy than incandescent options—making them perfect for battery backup configurations.

7. Does LEDtronics offer roadway lighting solutions?

We do. Our product line includes LED streetlights, 1,000-watt floodlights, and post-top LED bulbs for municipal and industrial applications.

8. What new LED technologies is LEDtronics developing?

We design complete LED lighting products, not the chips themselves. Our latest innovations include ballast-ready LED T8 tubes, updated post-top bulbs, and LED strip lighting systems tailored for commercial use.

Outside of his role at LEDtronics, Jordon Papanier is a published writer and frequent guest on TV segments about solid-state lighting. He is also the author of the FBI thriller Fallen Lotus Petals.
