NYC-Approved Steel Emergency Unit – Features & Specs

The NYDXR New York City–Approved Emergency Unit pairs a rugged powder-coated 20-gauge steel cabinet with up to three fully adjustable, glare-free PAR-style lamp heads. Available in 6 V and 12 V configurations, it delivers 18 W, 27 W, or 50 W of emergency lighting and provides up to 14 W of remote-head capacity on the 12 V 3-head model. Fully compliant with UL 924 and NYC local code for interior egress lighting.

Illumination

Is the NYDXR approved for use in New York City?

What battery/output options are available?

Three unit wattages: 18 W (6 V), 27 W (6 V), and 50 W (12 V). All provide a minimum of 90 minutes of emergency illumination.

Does this unit support remote heads?

Yes. The 12 V 3-head (50 W) model provides 14 W remote capacity by default and supports compatible remote head families; total remote wattage may reach 14–32 W depending on the heads used (see spec sheet).

What’s the difference between 2-head and 3-head models?

The 27 W and 50 W units ship with a third PAR head (field-installable) for added coverage.

Are the lamp heads glare-free?

Yes. The PAR heads are specified as glare-free for improved visual comfort in egress paths.
