Measure the longest straight-line approach distance to the sign along the intended viewing path on your plan set. If the farthest viewer position is = 50 ft with clear line-of-sight, this 50-ft model is appropriate; otherwise step up to a 100-ft model.
Can this 50-ft model be used for floor-proximity (low-level) exit indication?
Yes—if permitted by the AHJ and the face receives = 5 fc during occupancy at the installed height. Maintain contrast against the adjacent finish and avoid baseboard obstructions.
Does the brushed aluminum frame provide advantages beyond appearance?
It offers rigid support for the PL panel and a durable, architectural finish that resists warping and helps keep the legend flat and crisp at 50 ft. Do not paint or wrap the luminous surface.
Is there any perceptible difference between red vs. green legends at 50 ft?
