Frequently Asked Questions
How many lamps does it support?
One compatible fluorescent lamp in emergency mode at up to 500 initial lumens for 90 minutes.
Which lamp types are compatible?
T5 / T5HO, T8, T12, 2G11 and GR10q-4 CFL, circular T5/T9, and U-bend fluorescent lamps. Check the fixture’s lamp wattage against the compatibility chart on the spec sheet.
Can it be remote-mounted?
Yes—up to 50 ft, and the run must not exceed one-half of the AC ballast’s rated lamp-to-ballast distance.
Does it work with LED replacement tubes?
No. This is a fluorescent emergency ballast. For LED Type B/C retrofits or LED fixtures, use a listed LED emergency driver designed for those lamps.
Is it suitable for sealed or gasketed fixtures?
Yes. It’s listed for use in sealed/gasketed and enclosed fluorescent fixtures when installed per instructions.
What testing/maintenance is required?
Use the LED indicator/push-to-test for checks. Follow NFPA 101: brief monthly functional tests and an annual 90-minute test. Replace the battery if it no longer supports full duration.
What’s the operating environment?
Damp-location rated; ambient 0 °C to 50 °C. For wet locations, install inside a suitable listed enclosure/fixture.
