The HZM Class 1 Division 2 Emergency Light is suitable for hazardous locations that feature flammable, ignitable, or explosive gases, vapors, or dust particles. Available in a variety of battery voltage and wattage combinations. Two top mounted PAR style lamp heads produce powerful emergency illumination that lasts for a minimum 90 minutes. UL 844, 924, and 1604 Listed. A push-to-test button allows for easy testing of the battery backup system. This hazardous location emergency light back mounts to normally inflammable surfaces. Operates using 120 or 277v AC power, special voltages available.

This Class 1 Div 2 emergency light is easy to install and is suitable for oil refineries, power plants, and chemical processing facilities. A powerful battery backup system provides a minimum 90 minutes of emergency illumination during power outages. Self-Testing Diagnostics are standard on this Class 1 Division 2 emergency light. External Specifications

The HZM Series is constructed from fiberglass reinforced polyester and is approved for a variety of extreme hazardous locations. This Class 1 Div 2 emergency lights is approved for NEMA 3, 4, 4x, 12 areas, and in class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C & D, Zone 2, Groups IIA, IIB, H2 & IIC areas. A clear polycarbonate shield creates a window that allows for easy monitoring of the AC indicator light and optional ammeter and voltmeter. Comes standard with Class 1 Div 2 rated polycarbonate sealed beam PAR 36 halogen or tungsten lamp heads.

Internal Specifications

High output incandescent lamps and a specially designed refractory lens assembly provides glare-free light distribution. Lamp Type: Incandescent - wedge base. Lamp Rating: 6 volts, 5.4 watts. Lamp Life: 100 hours (expected average). These types of fixtures are also known as as explosion proof emergency lights, because the internal electrical components are hermetically sealed to prevent the ignition of an explosion from the interaction with gases, vapors, and liquids.

Electrical Specifications

120/277v AC dual-voltage operation is standard with surge-protected, solid-state circuitry that provides for a reliable charging system. Other voltages available upon request such as 220v and 240v. Some models feature a temperature compensated charger. Charging system is complete with low voltage disconnect, AC lockout, and brownout protection. Test button is standard.

Battery Specifications

Maintenance free, sealed nickel cadmium battery has an estimated service life of 7-10 years, and an operating temperature range of 20°F (-7°C) to 95°F (35°C). Maintenance free, sealed lead calcium battery has an estimated service life of 5 years, and an operating temperature range of 65°F (19°C) to 85°F (30°C). Batteries supply at least 90 minutes of emergency illumination power.

Maintenance Profile

The maintenance required for this unit is monthly and yearly testing of the battery backup system per OSHA regulations. The emergency lamps are replaceable if broken or burnt out.

Lifespan

8-10 year expected lifespan on all components except replaceable battery.

Options

Self-testing - The unit can come with self-diagnostic testing that eliminates monthly and yearly testing of the battery backup system and alerts the user to any problems regarding operational functionality of the unit.

Self-testing with Alarm - The unit can come with self-diagnostic testing that is paired with an audible alarm.

Time Delay - The unit will remain in emergency mode with lamp heads ililluminated for 15 minutes after AC power is restored. This is a popular feature in facilities that feature HID or gas vapor lighting that takes 10-15 minute to reach full illumination output levels.

Remote Capability - The unit can be outfitted with an additional 6-volt 4.5-amp battery that can provide support to as many as two additional 6-volt 5.4-watt remote lamp heads.

Shatterproof Lamp Heads - The unit can be outfitted with shatter proof lamp heads for food preparation and manufacturing applications.

Installation

This emergency light is suitable for surface (wall and ceiling) installation. This model is suitable for installations on normally inflammable surfaces. Use two of three provided wires to connect the unit to AC power. Use the black(120v) and white(Common) wires for 120v AC connections and the red(277v) and white(Common) wires for 277v AC connections.
